📖 Genesis 44:1–34 in Pidgin English
1. Joseph tell him house manager, “Fill their bags with food as much as dem fit carry, and put each man money inside.
2. But for di youngest one bag, put my silver cup plus him food money.” So di steward do wetin Joseph talk.
3. Early morning, dem men carry their donkeys and waka go.
4. But before dem go far, Joseph say to him steward, “Chase dem! When you reach dem, say, ‘Why una repay good with evil?
5. That cup na wetin my master dey use to drink and check things. Una don do wrong!’”
6. Di steward catch up with dem and repeat Joseph words.
7. Di brothers say, “Why you dey accuse us? We no do such thing!
8. We even bring back di money wey we find last time. Why we go steal silver or gold?
9. If anybody get that cup, make he die, and di rest of us go be slaves.”
10. Di steward say, “Okay, anybody wey get am go be my slave, but di rest of una go free.”
11. All of dem rush put their bags down and open am.
12. Di steward search from oldest to youngest—and he find di cup inside Benjamin bag!
13. Dem tear their cloth in sorrow, reload their donkeys, and return to Joseph house.
14. Judah and him brothers reach Joseph house, and they bow down to ground.
15. Joseph say, “Una no know say I fit find things out?”
16. Judah say, “We no fit talk anything. God don expose our sin. All of us go be your slaves.”
17. But Joseph say, “No! Only di one wey get di cup go stay as slave. The rest fit go back in peace to una papa.”
18. Then Judah come near Joseph and say, “Oga, abeg make I talk small. Don’t vex.
19. Our papa ask us if we get another brother.
20. We tell am say, ‘Yes, we get one small brother. Our mama don die and our papa love am pass all.’
21. You say, ‘Bring him make I see am.’
22. We tell you say, ‘Di boy no fit leave him papa. If him papa lose am, e fit die.’
23. But you say, ‘If una no bring am, una no go see my face again.’
24. When we go back and tell our papa,
25. Later he say make we go buy food again.
26. We tell am say, ‘We no fit go without Benjamin.’
27. Our papa say, ‘Una know say na only two pikin this woman born me.
28. One don die, and now una wan carry this one go too? If anything happen, I go die in sorrow.’
29. If we go back without di boy, our papa wey love am well go die of heartbreak.
30. I promise to protect am.
31. If I no bring am back, I go carry shame forever.
32. So I beg you, make you keep me as slave instead of di boy.
33. Let di boy go back with him brothers.
34. Because I no go fit go back to my papa if Benjamin no dey. I no wan see my papa die of sorrow.”
