📖 Genesis 19:1–38 in Pidgin English
1. That night, two angels reach Sodom. Lot dey sit for city gate. When e see them, e bow face ground.
2. E say, “Make una come my house, rest for night, wash una leg. Tomorrow una fit continue journey.” But dem say, “We go sleep outside for town square.”
3. But Lot beg dem sotay dem gree follow am. E prepare food—unleavened bread—and dem chop.
4. Before dem sleep, men of Sodom—young and old—surround Lot house. Dem all come from di town.
5. Dem shout, “Lot, where di men wey come your house? Bring dem out make we sleep with dem.”
6. Lot come out and close di door behind am.
7. E say, “Abeg, my brothers, no do this kain wicked thing.”
8. “I get two daughters wey never sleep with man. I go bring dem out. Do as you like with dem, but no touch these men wey I welcome.”
9. Dem shout, “Come out jare! Who you be to dey judge us?” Dem push Lot hard and try break door.
10. But di angels drag Lot inside and lock di door.
11. Dem blind all di men for outside—young and old—so dem no fit find di door again.
12. Di angels ask Lot, “You get anybody else here—sons, daughters, in-laws? Tell all of dem to comot.”
13. “We go destroy dis place because God don hear di wickedness wey full this land.”
14. Lot go tell him daughter-husbands-to-be say, “Make una quick comot, God go destroy Sodom!” But dem think say Lot dey joke.
15. By morning, di angels rush Lot say, “Stand up! Carry your wife and daughters comot now so you no die with di city!”
16. Lot delay. Di angels hold him hand, him wife, and two daughters, carry dem comot because God get mercy.
17. As dem don reach safe zone, dem say, “Run for your life! No look back or stop! Run go mountain or you go die!”
18. Lot beg, “Please, I no fit reach di mountain. Danger fit catch me there and I go die.”
19. “See dat small town (Zoar), abeg let me run there and stay. It no too far and e small.”
20. Angel say, “I agree. I no go destroy dat town. But run go there fast, I no fit do anything until you reach.”
21. Di town name na Zoar.
22. Sun don rise as Lot enter Zoar.
23. Then God send fire and brimstone from heaven to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah.
24. Dem cities, people, plants, and everything wey dey di land scatter finish.
25. But Lot wife look back—and she turn pillar of salt.
26. Early morning, Abraham go back to di place wey he dey talk with God.
27. As e look Sodom and Gomorrah and all di land, smoke dey rise like smoke from big furnace.
28. God remember Abraham and save Lot when e destroy di cities.
29. Lot comot from Zoar because e fear to stay there. E and him daughters go stay for cave.
30. First daughter tell younger one, “Our papa old and no man dey to marry us.”
31. “Make we give papa wine, sleep with am, so we go get pikin from am.”
32. That night, dem give Lot wine. First daughter sleep with am. Lot no know when e lie down or get up.
33. Next night, younger daughter do same. Lot no know.
34. So both daughters of Lot carry belle from their papa.
35. First daughter born son—dem call am Moab. Na him people become Moabites.
36. Second daughter born son—dem call am Ben-Ammi. Na him people become Ammonites.
37. These two people (Moabites and Ammonites) dem be for Lot pikin dem, from him two daughters.
38. Dem children grow big and become many people for di land till today.
