1. When Abram reach 99 years old, God appear to am and say, “I be Almighty God. Walk with Me and live right.”
2. “I go make covenant with you and I go give you plenty descendants.”
3. Abram fall face down, and God continue to dey talk to am.
4. “This na my covenant with you: you go be papa of many nations.”
5. “From today, your name no go be Abram again. I go call you Abraham, because you go be father of many nations.”
6. “I go bless you well-well and give you many pikin. Kings go come from your family line.”
7. “I go keep my covenant with you and your generations. Na everlasting covenant. I go be your God and your children God.”
8. “I go give you and your descendants the land of Canaan, where you dey live now as stranger. That land go be your own forever.”
9. God tell Abraham, “You and your generations must keep this covenant.”
10. “Every male among una must do circumcision. Na this go be the sign of the covenant between Me and una.”
11. “Make una circumcise una male pikin foreskin. This one go show say una carry my covenant.”
12. “Do am when pikin reach eight days old. Both born slave and foreigner wey live with una must follow this law.”
13. “Circumcision must happen for every male. If person no gree do am, e no be my own again—na break covenant be dat.”
14. Then God tell Abraham, “Your wife Sarai name go change too. She go now answer Sarah.”
15. “I go bless her and she go born pikin for you. I go bless her and nations and kings go come from her.”
16. Abraham fall face down laugh say, “How man of 100 years go born pikin? And woman of 90 years go born?”
17. Abraham tell God, “Make Ishmael live and enjoy blessing.”
18. But God say, “No be Ishmael. Sarah your wife go born pikin, and you go call am Isaac. I go make covenant with am.”
19. “Na Isaac go carry my everlasting covenant with him generations.”
20. “But as you talk about Ishmael, I go bless am too. I go make am great and give am 12 princes. But Isaac go carry my promise.”
21. God finish to talk with Abraham and go.
22. That same day, Abraham carry Ishmael and all male for him house—slave and born boy—and circumcise dem as God tell am.
23. Abraham self circumcise that day. E be 99 years old.
24. Ishmael be 13 years old when dem circumcise am.
25. So Abraham and Ishmael and all male for the house do circumcision that same day.
26. That same day, Abraham and him pikin Ishmael do circumcision just as God tell am.
27. All the men wey dey Abraham house — both the ones wey born there and the ones wey dem buy as slave — all of dem do circumcision with am.
