📖 Genesis 16:1–16 in Pidgin English
1. Sarah, Abraham wife, no fit born pikin. But she get one Egyptian housemaid wey dem call Hagar.
2. Sarah tell Abraham say, “Since God never give me pikin, sleep with my maid Hagar make she born for me. Maybe I go get pikin through her.” Abraham agree.
3. So after dem don stay for Canaan for ten years, Sarah give her maid Hagar to Abraham to be him second wife.
4. Abraham sleep with Hagar, and she get belle. When Hagar know say she don get belle, she begin look Sarah with bad eye.
5. Sarah vex tell Abraham say, “See wetin I dey suffer because of you! I give you my maid, now she don dey look me down. May God judge who wrong between me and you!”
6. Abraham reply, “Na your maid, do her anyhow you want.” So Sarah treat Hagar bad, and Hagar run comot from house.
7. Angel of the Lord meet Hagar near one water well for desert, the one close to the road to Shur.
8. Angel ask am, “Hagar, Sarah maid, where you from dey come and where you dey go?” She say, “I dey run from my madam Sarah.”
9. Angel of the Lord tell am, “Go back to your madam and humble yourself under her.”
10. Angel say, “I go multiply your children so te dem no go fit count.”
11. Then angel say, “You go born pikin, call am Ishmael (because God don hear your cry).”
12. “Your pikin go be wild person. E no go gree anybody and nobody go gree am. E go live against all him brothers.”
13. Hagar call God wey talk to her “El-Roi” (God wey dey see me), because she say, “I see the God wey see me.”
14. Na why dem call that well Beer-lahai-roi, and e still dey between Kadesh and Bered.
15. Hagar born Abraham a son, and Abraham name am Ishmael.
16. Abraham be 86 years old when Hagar born Ishmael for am.
