📖 Genesis 15:1–21 in Pidgin English
1. After all these things, God appear to Abraham for dream and tell am, “Make you no fear, Abraham. I dey protect you, and your reward go big well well.”
2. But Abraham say, “O Lord God, wetin you go give me when I never even get pikin? Eliezer from Damascus go inherit all my property.”
3. Abraham still talk say, “You no give me pikin, na one servant born for my house go be my heir.”
4. Then God tell am say, “That one no go be your heir. Na your own pikin wey go come from your body go inherit everything.”
5. God carry Abraham go outside and say, “Look up, count the stars if you fit. That na how your children dem go plenty.”
6. Abraham believe God, and God count am as righteousness.
7. Then God tell am, “Na Me be the Lord wey carry you come from Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land as your own.”
8. Abraham ask, “O Lord God, how I go take sure say na truly I go possess am?”
9. God say, “Bring me one three-year-old cow, one three-year-old goat, one three-year-old ram, one turtledove, and one young pigeon.”
10. Abraham bring all of dem come, cut dem into two, and arrange each half to face each other. But e no cut the birds.
11. Birds of prey come try land on top the dead bodies, but Abraham drive dem away.
12. As evening dey come, Abraham fall into deep sleep, and serious fear and darkness fall on am.
13. God tell am say, “Know this: your descendants go be strangers for land wey no be their own. People go turn dem to slaves and oppress dem for 400 years.”
14. “But I go punish the nation wey oppress dem, and after that, dem go come out with plenty riches.”
15. “You go die in peace and be buried when you old well well.”
16. “But your descendants go return here after four generations, because di wickedness of the Amorites never reach full.”
17. When sun don set and darkness don full, Abraham see one smoking firepot and burning torch pass between the animal pieces.
18. That day, God make covenant with Abraham. God say, “I don give this land to your descendants — from River Egypt to River Euphrates.”
19. “This include land of the Kenites, Kenizzites, Kadmonites,
20. Hittites, Perizzites, Rephaites,
21. Amorites, Canaanites, Girgashites, and Jebusites.”
