DRAMA: Trusting God in all Circumstances of Life

Trusting God In All Circumstances is a drama series that will bless your soul and give you encouragement to wait unto God’s promises for your life.

Drama: Trusting God in all Circumstances of Life

Initially titled “Trusting In God” when it was first written but right now retitled “Trusting God In All Circumstances”. Our faith comes alive when we put our trust in the Lord. Trusting Him in all circumstances of life is a way of handing over our fears to the one who can make us whole.

These Bible verses truly would reawaken your thoughts to put your trust in God.

Psalm 28:7
The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.

Proverbs 29:25
The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe.

Jeremiah 17:7-8
[7]. Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is.
[8]. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.

Psalm 56:3-4
[3]. What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.
[4]. In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.

Psalm 9:10
And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, Lord, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.

Isaiah 12:2
Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the Lord, Jehovah is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.

Isaiah 26:3-4
[3]. Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
[4]. Trust ye in the Lord forever: for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength:

Psalm 33:20-22
[20]. Our soul waiteth for the Lord: he is our help and our shield.
[21]. For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.
[22]. Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.

Psalm 37:4-5
[4]. Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
[5]. Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

Proverbs 3:5-6
[5]. Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
[6]. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

All of our heart is needed to totally put our trust in God. This drama shows that when we trust God He will always act in our circumstances no matter the delay.

Epitome

After a trip to Calabar in 1994, I worshipped with The Light Crusader Ministry Inc. where I suddenly made a promise to one of my cousins Miss Comfort Daniel Isemin whose father Rev. Imaobong Daniel Isemin is the Foundation of the Ministry that I will write a play for their church drama section when I go back to Lagos. And on the 24th of February 1994  in Lagos, inside No. 11 Ejalonibu Street, Oko-Oba Road, Agege, I began to put down what has now become my first move into the world of a writer.  In the spirit of the inspiration that flows inside of me, I wrote this to comfort those that are in need.  As you spend a little time reading, my prayer is that the Good Lord will meet you in your time of need.  Read on! [16:01:2003]

Members - About 5 family members

Joy - The Girl to be married for Mfon

A Pastor

Act  1

Eno - O God, when will my sorrow be over?.  When will the world stop laughing at me (crying)?  When will I become a mother after ten years of marriage (still crying)?

Mfon - My dear, crying will not solve the problem.  Let us wait for God’s appointed time or do you think my Saviour is asleep not to hear our prayers?.  Dear, remember Abraham and Sarah who waited for God’s appointed time.

Eno - (Cleaning her face). Dear, how long shall we wait when you know what I am going through from your parents these past years.  There is no name that your parents have not called me.  Your mother had named me a Witch who had donated her womb….  Even your father called me “Mrs. Abortion”.  Not to talk of your family members.

Mfon - Dear, stop all this talk.  Listen, let the world say whatever they like about you.  All I know, is they are not God who can provide us with our needs.  I know my redeemer liveth and when His appointed time shall come, no Jupiter can stand against it.

Cheer-up woman.  It is exactly 11.00p.m.  Please find me something to eat.

Act 2

[Eno is in the sitting room and is thinking about her predicaments. A knock on the door]

Eno - Who could this be?  Please come right in, the door is open.

Oh!, it’s you Mary, long time no see.  How body?

Mary - I dey manage am oh!.

Eno - Abeg sit down for chair make we talk.  Where have you been?

Mary - I travel go village.

Eno - How is everybody there?  I hope you bring something for me?

Mary - Everybody are fine.  Abeg my friend, if you want something, make you come house.

Eno, from the look on your face, it seems something is really wrong.  What is the matter?

Eno - My friend, I am undergoing one of the most difficult times in my life.  I pray I survive it.  My father and mother-in-law will never allow me to have peace in my matrimonial home.  They see me as a person who can never give them grandchildren.  They have even told me to go look for another husband and leave their son alone.  There is no name I have not answered in this house.

Mary - Look, my friend, you are the fault.  I have told you time without a number to come with me to a herbalist in our village who can give you a child.  But your reply is always, “I am not interested”.

I tell you, wait till your parents-in-law send you parking and marry another wife for their son, then you will understand that “husband is a scarce commodity these days”.

Eno - My friend, I do not expect this from you again.  Look, I have made up my mind to wait for God’s time.

Mary - Wait! Go on waiting until you are 70 years then the reality will hit you like an atomic bomb.

Eno - God forbid.

Mary - Me, I don finish my own and I want begin dey go home O!.

Eno - Make I escort you reach outside.  I dey tire since I return from work.

Act 3

[In the village.  Mfon’s father [Mr. Bassey] call all the family members to discuss some family matters]

Bassey - My people, I greet you all for finding time to come to this meeting.  May our ancestors bless you all.

Members - Amen.

Bassey - Without wasting your time, I want to go straight to the point.  It is 10 years now since our son took that “Mrs. Abortion” into his home.  10 good years and no offspring to show for it.

I know she don charm my son, that is why my son dey support am anytime I dey talk to him.  Every time na “God time is the best”.

Now, I don see one better girl when I go marry for my son who go feet give am as many children as my son want.

Next week, I want take the girl go show my son for Lagos.  Now, I want una suggestions.

Paul - (Stands up)   Thank you very seriously Papa Mfon.  We all know the embarrassment when that your son wife don cause us for this village.  All the small boys when just marry for this village don get two or three children.  But your son after ten years has nothing to show.

Me, I buy that your idea and I hope everybody here dey stand with you.

Members - Yes!.

Act 4

[Now Papa Mfon is in Lagos and is knocking at the door]

Eno - Who might this be?  Is it my dear?  But he doesn’t return from work by 7.00p.m.  Let me better go and open the door.

 Oh! Papa welcome.

Bassey - Don’t welcome me.

Eno - Let me help you to carry your bag.

Bassey - Did I tell you that my hand is broken?  Where is my son?

Eno - He is not yet back from work.

Eno - Papa, what will you like to eat?

Bassey - you want me to eat your poison food, God forbid.

Eno - Papa, what have I done to warrant these embarrassments?

Bassey - Go and ask yourself that stupid question.

Look, so you want me to die before I see my grandchildren?  It is you that will die.  You this “Mrs. Abortion”.

Eno - (Crying).  O God what have I done to deserve all these things….. crying.

[Just then there was another knock on the door and Mfon opened and came in].

Mfon - What is going on here?  (Just then he saw his father).  Oh! , papa, you have arrived.

Bassey - Yes my son.

Mfon - Dear what is the matter, why are you crying?.

Eno - Nothing dear.

Mfon - Nothing and you are crying.

Bassey - Live the pretender alone.  When her mates are having six to seven children, she is here crying like a little child.

Mfon - Papa doesn’t talk to my wife like that.

Bassey - Which wife is it?  This empty stomach.

Mfon - Papa, I do not like your tone.  Lest I forget who is this girl with you?

Bassey - (Smiling).  We will talk about it later like father and son.

Mfon - Papa, have you eaten anything?

Bassey - Me, eat from this woman.  Never!

Bassey - Joy.

Joy - Papa.

Bassey - Go and prepare something for me to eat.

Joy - Yes Papa.

Mfon - Dear, come on, don’t worry, everything will be alright.

Act 5

[The next day.  Mr. Bassey called his son to let him know his plans]

Bassey - Mfon my son.  You may have wondered about the girl you saw last night.  I want to let you know that I am taking her as a wife for you.  She is very young and can produce the numbers of children you want anytime.  Not that your useless wife, who can not give you a child.

Mfon - Thank you Papa for your concern.  But I do not need any wife, already I have a wife.

Bassey - Which wife, that one that can not give you a child for good 10 years.

I think something is wrong with the two of you.  Have you seen the Doctor?

Mfon - Father, we have seen the doctor time without number and nothing is wrong with us.

I know when it is time, the good Lord will give us a child because we trust in Him.

Bassey - For how many years?  Is it when I have died abi.

Mfon - Papa, God’s time is the best.

Mfon - Oh! Papa, I am already late for work.  I will see you in the evening.

Bassey - Okey my son?

Mfon - Oh! Papa lest I forget, I will be going to a revival meeting in the evening with my wife.  So I might not have much time to spend with you when I come back in the evening.

Bassey - Okey o!

Act 7

[Eno and Mfon at home discussing about the church service]

Eno - Dear I have never felt like this before.

Mfon - How are you feeling?

Eno - I feel the great power of the Lord upon me.  The Lord was speaking directly to me that my sorrow and problems are over this year since we believe and have waited for his appointed time.

Dear, I am already feeling like a mother.

Mfon - Dear, I know the Lord has answered our prayers and it is only a matter of days for us to start seeing the manifestation of His wonderful works.

Eno - I pray so – o!

Bassey - Mfon!, Mfon!!, Mfon!!!

Eno - Dear, that must be your father’s voice calling you.

Mfon - Yes Papa, I am coming.

Bassey - Mfon, so you mean to say that you no hear my voice?

Mfon - But Papa I was answering you.

Bassey - How many times I call you or that your shameless wife don tell you say make you no dey answer me?

Mfon - But Papa why are you complicating matters for me?

Bassey - Complicating what?

Mfon - Papa, look, you make me sick a time.  Why are you always finding faults with my wife?

Why is it that anything she does is wrong?

You have called her all unprintable names still you are not satisfied.

Why Papa! Why Papa!! Just why!!!

Bassey - O-o-oh!, What is this world turning into?  Imagine my own son barking at me.  I can’t believe my very eyes.  Well, I no blame you.  Na now I see say that your wife useless charms don dey work for your body well-well.  Tell me, you no get shame for your face?  You no dey see your age mates for road?  Abey if you no dey shame, me I dey shame well-well.  Look at the kind of disgrace when you don bring to the family.  Everybody don turns our family into a laughing matter for the village.  Look at my grey hair abi you want me to die before I see my grandchildren?  Abasi Akan O!  I bring you better wife from the village to marry, you say you no dey interested.  Me I dey go back to village tomorrow.  But make I tell you no border to come village again come see me if you no bring me a grandchild?

Mfon - Papa I am very sorry if I was rude with my voice.  I want you to know that I love my wife no matter the problems confronting us now.  I know my Lord who has promised will not disappoint us.

Bassey - Me I dey go sleep o!  I am tired of everyday promises

Mfon - But Papa, you can’t travel tomorrow.  I will have to withdraw some money from the bank today.  And also buy some necessary items for you to take home.
